GE announces Beaming Power From Space, and it seriously could work

by Stephen BrownOctober 9, 2017

General Electric  has plans to begin beaming  power from SPACE using giant orbiting solar panels. The system could capture solar power in space, and beam the energy to Earth using Arrays of panels 1km wide. The panels could power entire areas, even cities. The  system would be nine times larger than the International Space Station.

HOW IT WORKS
The solar platform houses a series of electrical components integrated between two square panels. The outer layer is composed of ‘photovoltic’ panels that continually absorbs the Sun’s rays. The inner layer of the panel converts the energy into radio frequencies and transfers the power toward a target on the ground
