Lucasfilms Announces Production of ‘The Mandalorian’ TV Series
Well its official, production has started on Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series ‘The Mandalorian’ and Lucasfilm has released the first official photo!
The series will be written and executive produced by Jon Favreau (Avengers: Infinity War, Iron-Man) and Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) will be directing the first episode!
Additional episodic directors include and impressive list of talent that includes Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
The official Lucasfilms press release states:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
This is very exciting. Fans have been screaming for a deeper exploration into the world of Boba-Fett and the Mandalorian clan of mercenaries for some time, and after the lukewarm reception of Solo: A Star Wars Movie, the future of a Boba Fett film was in question. This new television series will hopefully give fans a much needed boost of adrenaline for their favorite franchise, and could lead to a full length Boba Fett film if done correctly.
