Man Designs & Builds Real Life Halo Suit For Canadian Military
The future is now. Inventor Troy Hurtubise, star of the Canadian documentary Project Grizzly, has created a functional ‘Halo’ type replica suit that he hopes will be used to protect Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan and future conflicts.
Dubbed the ‘Trojan’, the suit is the “first real ballistic, full exoskeleton body suit of armor.” The Trojan is crafted from high-impact plastic lined with ceramic bullet protection over ballistic foam which lightens the weight considerably. It also features compartments for morphine / salt containers, knife and gun holsters, emergency lights, a built-in recording device, pepper spray, a transponder for location, and even a fresh air filtration system powered by solar panels within the helmet.The suit can withstand direct impacts from most small arms rounds, and high velocity fragments.
Mr. Hurtubise claims the 18 kilograms (40 pounds) suit is comfortable enough to make road trips in, and if any major military would take him up on it, the suit could reportedly be produced for “around $3,000 apiece.
Troy is looking to receive orders & government contracts soon. Hopefully these will go into production soon to help stop some of the terrible injuries from conflicts abroad.
